Nova Scotia PNP invited Automotive industry workers in new immigration draw.

Nova Scotia PNP invited Automotive industry workers from the Express Entry Pool to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence in Canada.

Nova Scotia, the eastern maritime province of Canada, invited immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination on September 24 under its Labour Market Priorities Stream.

For applicants to be considered under this draw, they had the following attributes:

1. Have two or more years of full time, paid and continuous work experience in one of the following two National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes within five years preceding the application and provide letters of reference from employers, in a format recommended by the province.

a) motor vehicle body repairs (NOC 7322) OR

b) automotive service technicians, truck and bus mechanics and mechanical repairers (NOC 7321).

2: Have a Canadian Language Benchmark of at least five in all English language abilities, i.e., Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening and provide proof of language test with their application for the provincial nomination.

3: Have completed a program of two or more years at a post-secondary institution, such as a university, college or trade school in related field and provide an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report for these qualifications issued by an organization designated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada if the educational credential was obtained outside of Canada.

4: Have a valid Express Entry profile

Invited applicants have until 11:59 p.m. Oct. 24, 2020 to submit their provincial nomination application.

The Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream selects candidates in the federal Express Entry system who meet provincial labour market needs to apply for nomination. Only candidates who receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration may apply. The province typically targets a specific industry in their draws. Their last draw targeted Nurses in their last draw in May 2020.

Eligibility Criteria for Nova Scotia’s Labour Market Priorities Stream:

To apply applicants must:

  • receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Nominee Program within the Express Entry system;
  • submit your application within 30 calendar days of the date on which your letter of interest was issued;
  • meet the minimum work experience requirements of the Express Entry stream for which you have qualified;
  • demonstrate sufficient funds to successfully establish yourself and your family in Nova Scotia and to pay your immigration costs and travel expenses;
  • have legal status in your current country of residence;
  • meet eligibility criteria in place at the time you are issued a Letter of Interest; and
  • have a valid Express Entry number and meet all IRCC criteria for the Express Entry pool.

As indicated above, having a valid an Express Entry profile is a pre-requisite for this program. If nominated by Nova Scotia, applicants can claim an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS), thereby standing a strong chance of being issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada by way of the subsequent Express Entry Draw.
