Consultation Appointment Policy

You must give at least 48 hours notice to cancel or change a consultation. If you cancel later, or miss the appointment, you forfeit the entire fee paid. This policy applies to every consultation, whether you book online or offline.

How does a consultation work?
A licensed consultant supervises every consultation. Most last up to 30 minutes and take place in person, over the phone or through Zoom. They give general immigration guidance, not legal services.
- Identification: It is your obligation to properly identify yourself by providing us with valid ID documentation on or in advance of the consultation.
- Confidentiality: Consultation is subject to consultant/client privilege and is confidential, but only if you officially retain the firm during or after the consultation, do you become a client of the firm.
- Length: Consultations may last generally up to 30 minutes, but can fall short or exceed that time depending on the matter.
- Format: Consultations can take place in-person, over the phone, or through Zoom.
- Scope: Consultations are meant to provide general immigration guidance for your matter and not legal services. Legal services are provided through official engagement of the firm.
- Changes: A 48-hour notice is required to cancel or change your appointment. Please call us directly or email us to cancel.
How do I reserve a consultation?
Consultations must be reserved through our online reservation system. In some cases, we may be able to book you offline. However, the same policy will apply to all bookings.
What happens if I cancel or miss my appointment?
If you cancel less than 48 hours before the appointment time, you forfeit the entire fee paid. A no-show counts as a cancellation, so you forfeit the entire fee in that case too. You will have to pay new fees if you wish to have another appointment.
A no-show on the scheduled time is considered a cancellation unless a 48-hour notice is provided 48 hours before the scheduled time.
When do I pay, and is the fee credited?
Payments must be made before the appointment. If you retain Amir Ismail & Associates within 30 days of your consultation, the consultation fee is credited toward your professional fees.
Does a file review make me a client?
No. By booking this consultation, you agree to the following terms:
- This consultation/file review does not constitute a client-consultant relationship.
- You will be submitting your application independently.
- The file review does not guarantee application approval or a favorable outcome.
- No further representation or counseling will be provided after a file review consultation.
