This tool is intended solely for general guidance and reference purposes.

In the event of any discrepancy between the results of this calculator and that provided by the Express Entry electronic system, the results provided by the system shall govern, in accordance with provisions of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, and Minister's Instructions issued under IRPA s.10.3.

This tool reflects the CRS criteria as understood from publicly available information, including the removal of job offer points effective March 25, 2025, and may be updated periodically.

Basic Information

If invited, use age on invitation date. Otherwise, use current age.

A. Core / Human Capital Factors

Enter the highest level for which you earned a credential OR had an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) if studied outside Canada (ECA must be from an approved agency, less than 5 years old).

You need language test results (less than two years old) for Express Entry. Enter the CLB levels achieved for each ability. Use an online converter if needed to find CLB from IELTS, CELPIP-G, PTE Core, TEF Canada, or TCF Canada scores.

i. First official language
ii. Second official language (Optional)

Enter CLB levels if you have valid test results (less than 2 years old) for the other official language.

In the last 10 years, how many years of skilled work experience in Canada do you have? (Must be paid, full-time or equivalent part-time, in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3).

C. Skill Transferability Factors (Maximum 100 points)

These points combine your education, language skills, and work experience.

In the last 10 years, how many total years of foreign skilled work experience do you have? (Paid, full-time or equivalent, in one occupation, NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3).

This applies to skilled trades. It requires assessment and passing a certification exam in Canada.

D. Additional Points (Maximum 600 points)

Note: As of March 25, 2025, points are no longer awarded for job offers, even if valid and supported by an LMIA (if required).

The sibling must be 18+, living in Canada, and related by blood, adoption, marriage, or common-law partnership (have a parent in common).

Bonus points if you have strong French skills (NCLC 7 or higher in all four abilities). Points depend on your English skills (CLB).

French Test Results (NCLC)

Enter NCLC levels from TEF Canada or TCF Canada (less than 2 years old).

English Test Results (CLB)

Select the option that describes your English CLB levels (from your First Official Language scores above).

Select the length of the Canadian degree, diploma or certificate you earned. See note below for eligibility.

Note: To qualify for these points, you must have studied full-time (unless studied between Mar 2020-Aug 2022) at a Canadian institution, been physically present in Canada for study (unless studied between Mar 2020-Aug 2022), and ESL/FSL must not be more than half the program. Study under an award requiring return to home country doesn't count.

Frequently Asked Questions About CRS Scores and Express Entry

What is a good CRS score for Express Entry in 2025?

A competitive CRS score in 2025 ranges from 450 to 510, depending on the draw type. Recent all-program draws have seen cutoffs between 470-495, while category-based draws can be lower (430-470). Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws typically have cutoffs around 730+ (base score + 600 PNP points).

Current trends show:

  • All-program draws: 500+ points
  • French language proficiency: 430-460 points
  • Healthcare occupations: 450-470 points
  • STEM occupations: 465-485 points
  • Trades occupations: 435-460 points

Check our Express Entry latest draws page to see the most recent cutoff scores and invitation trends.

Our calculator takes under 5 minutes to complete. You’ll need the following information ready:

Your age
Highest level of education (and ECA if studied outside Canada)
Language test results (IELTS, CELPIP, TEF Canada, or TCF Canada)
Years of Canadian work experience (if any)
Years of foreign work experience
Spouse/partner details (if applicable)
Provincial nomination status (if applicable)

The calculator provides an instant estimate as soon as you click “Calculate CRS Score.”

Our calculator provides an estimate based on the official CRS scoring grid used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Your official CRS score is determined by IRCC when you create your Express Entry profile in their system.

Why estimates may differ:

  • Rounding differences in age calculations
  • Interpretation of work experience equivalency
  • ECA results may differ from your assumption
  • Language score conversions to CLB

This tool is designed to help you understand your approximate score and prepare your application strategy. For an official score, you must submit an Express Entry profile to IRCC. We recommend booking a consultation with our RCIC for a detailed assessment.

Yes, absolutely! You can update your Express Entry profile at any time to reflect improvements such as:

  • Higher language test scores
  • Additional work experience (Canadian or foreign)
  • Completed education credentials
  • Spouse’s improved credentials
  • Provincial nomination
  • Canadian educational credentials

Your CRS score automatically recalculates whenever you update your profile. Many of our successful clients have improved their scores by 50-100 points through strategic improvements we help them identify.

If your current score is below recent cutoff scores, don’t worry—you have several strategic options:

1. Improve Your Score:

  • Retake language tests to achieve higher CLB levels (biggest impact)
  • Gain additional work experience (1 year+ in your NOC)
  • Complete additional education or training
  • Improve your spouse’s language scores or education

2. Apply for a Provincial Nomination:
A provincial nomination adds 600 points to your CRS score, virtually guaranteeing an invitation in the next draw. Different provinces have different criteria and processing times. Learn about Provincial Nominee Programs here

3. Wait for Category-Based Draws:
If you qualify for category-based selection (French, healthcare, STEM, trades, agriculture, or education), you may receive an invitation with a lower score.

4. Explore Alternative Pathways:

Consider direct provincial programs, the Atlantic Immigration Program, or other immigration pathways if Express Entry isn’t your best option right now.
Book a consultation with us to create a personalized strategy for your situation.

Yes, if you completed your education outside Canada.

An ECA is required to claim CRS points for foreign education credentials. The assessment must:

  • Be from an IRCC-approved organization (WES, IQAS, ICAS, etc.)
  • Be less than 5 years old at the time of your Express Entry application
  • Verify your foreign credential is equivalent to a Canadian educational standard

If you studied in Canada:

You don’t need an ECA for Canadian credentials, but you must have:

  • Completed a program at a designated learning institution (DLI)
  • Obtained a diploma, degree, or certificate
  • Studied full-time for at least 8 months (with some pandemic exceptions)

Processing times:

  • WES (most popular): 5-7 weeks for standard, 2-3 weeks for expedited
  • Other agencies: 3-6 months typically

We can guide you through the ECA process and recommend the best option for your credentials.

Language ability is one of the most impactful factors in your CRS score. Here are approximate point increases:

First Official Language (Single Applicant):

CLB 7 → CLB 9 (all four abilities): +30 to 50 points
CLB 9 → CLB 10 (all four abilities): +10 to 20 points

Second Official Language (French bonus):

Adding strong French scores (NCLC 7+) with CLB 5+ English: +25 to 50 bonus points

For Applicants with Spouse:
The impact is slightly lower per level but still significant.

Real example:
One of our clients improved from IELTS 6.5 across the board (CLB 7-8) to IELTS 8.0 (CLB 9). This single change increased their CRS score by 47 points—enough to move from 420 to 467, making them immediately competitive.

Strategy:
Focus on speaking and listening first, as these are often easier to improve and carry equal weight to reading and writing.

A Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals who want to immigrate to Canada and are interested in settling in a particular province.

How it works with Express Entry:

  • You create an Express Entry profile
  • You apply to a province’s Express Entry-aligned PNP stream
  • If nominated, you receive 600 additional CRS points
  • With 600 extra points, you’re virtually guaranteed an invitation to apply

Popular PNP options:

  • Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP): Human Capital Priorities Stream, French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
  • British Columbia PNP (BC PNP): Skills Immigration – Express Entry BC
  • Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP): Express Entry Stream
  • Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP): Express Entry sub-category

Important notes:

  • Each province has different eligibility criteria
  • Some require a job offer or connection to the province
  • Processing times vary (2-6 months typically)
  • You must intend to live in that province

Yes, significantly! If your spouse or common-law partner is accompanying you to Canada, their qualifications directly impact your total CRS score.
Points from accompanying spouse:

Language ability: Up to 20 points for the first official language
Education: Up to 10 points
Canadian work experience: Up to 10 points

Maximum possible points from spouse: 40 points

On March 25, 2025, IRCC removed CRS points for job offers.

What this means:
Before March 25, 2025:

NOC TEER 0 job offer (senior management): +200 points
NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 job offer: +50 points

After March 25, 2025:

No points are awarded for job offers, even if you have a valid LMIA-supported offer

Why IRCC made this change:
To level the playing field and reduce the advantage of applicants with Canadian job offers, focus more on human capital factors like language, education, and work experience.

Impact on your strategy:

✓ Good news: If you’re applying from outside Canada without a job offer, you’re now on equal footing with those who have one.

✗ Challenge: If you were counting on job offer points, you’ll need to strengthen other factors (language scores, additional credentials, or pursue PNP).

Updated for this calculator:

This calculator reflects the post-March 25, 2025, scoring system. You’ll see there are no longer questions about job offers in the calculation.
