Indonesia Second Home Visa: A Long Stay Backed by Proof of Funds
You want to live in Indonesia without working there. The Second Home Visa asks for proof of IDR 2 billion in funds, and the official eVisa page lists a stay of up to 5 years, extendable. Holders may not work in an employment relationship.
A visa whose rules differ by source
Indonesian pages describe the Second Home Visa differently, and the differences matter. A 2022 circular says 5 or 10 years and a lower fee, while the eVisa page says up to 5 years and IDR 21 million. We use the eVisa page.
What it looks like from the outside:
- A duration of 5 or 10 years in the 2022 circular, and up to 5 years on the eVisa page.
- A property alternative on one page and a bank account on another.
- A fee that differs between the circular and the eVisa page.
How it feels:
- You worry you quote a duration that no longer applies.
- You fear sending funds to the wrong kind of bank.
- You feel unsure whom to trust when the pages disagree.
You do not have to settle the conflicts alone
We know how hard it is to plan a stay when the official pages disagree. You want someone who has read the rule on the official page, tells you honestly when a route does not fit, and stays with you until the file is filed.
What we have done:
- 35+ years in immigration and investment migration
- 25,000+ families guided since 1991
- 3rd Generation in the immigration industry
- 2026 Canadian Choice Award winner
What we believe:
- Honesty first: we tell you when a route does not fit, before you move money.
- Checked rules: every figure on this page is read from an official source and dated.
- Your plan, not a template: the right route depends on your goals, your family and your funds.
We believe you should know which source we trust, and why.
What you get
| Feature | Benefit | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| No sponsor needed for the funds route | The immigration news page says applicants can apply without a guarantor when they meet the funds or property rule | You do not depend on an employer |
| A published fee | The eVisa page lists the fee including stay and entry permits | You know the fee before you file |
| A long visa | Up to 5 years, extendable, on the eVisa page | You plan a long stay |
| Family linked to your visa | Spouse, child or parent can apply as linked holders | The people you worry about can come too |
| An online application | The visa runs through the eVisa site | You can start from your home country |
Where it takes you: a long-stay visa for Indonesia without employment. This is a visa to live there, not a passport.
Is it right for you?
An honest answer before you move funds.

What you need
You need proof of IDR 2 billion, a passport valid for at least 36 months and an online application. Official pages differ on small points, so we list what the eVisa page says.
What the eVisa pages list:
- A passport valid for at least 36 months.
- A recent colour photograph and a commitment statement.
- Proof of funds of IDR 2,000,000,000 in a personal bank account, or the equivalent.
- Proof that you are financially sufficient during your stay.
- The visa used within 90 days of the date of issue.
- Documents not in English translated into Indonesian.
The immigration news page of 28 December 2022 adds that applicants can apply without a sponsor, that proof of Indonesian property can replace the bank deposit, and that statements come from a state-owned bank.
The routes and rules
The eVisa page sets one route with one amount. The figures below come from the official eVisa pages.
| Requirement | What the page says |
|---|---|
| Funds | IDR 2,000,000,000 in a personal bank account, or equivalent |
| Stay | Up to 5 years, extendable; use the visa within 90 days of issue |
| Fee | IDR 21,000,000, including stay permit and entry permit fees |
| Work | Prohibited from working in an employment relationship |
| Passport | Valid for at least 36 months |
Who can be included. A spouse, child or parent can apply as a family member linked to your visa, with proof of the relationship. The dependant page lists a fee of IDR 7,000,000.
What it costs, and what waiting costs
The funds are the larger amount, and the fee sits on top. The funds stay yours, and the fee does not return.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Visa fee, main applicant | IDR 21,000,000, including stay permit and entry permit fees |
| Dependant fee, per the dependant page | IDR 7,000,000 |
Source: Indonesia eVisa pages. The 2022 circular shows a different fee of IDR 3,000,000 and is out of step with the eVisa page. Professional fees are on top.

Status: what changed and when
Reviewed 22 October 2026. Sources: Indonesia eVisa pages, immigration circular of 2022 and news page of 28 December 2022.
| What | Status |
|---|---|
| Stay | Up to 5 years, extendable, on the eVisa page; a 2022 circular says 5 or 10 years |
| Fee | IDR 21,000,000 on the eVisa page; a 2022 circular shows IDR 3,000,000 |

| Work | Prohibited in an employment relationship, per the eVisa page |
What could change: the funds amount, the duration and the fee. What we do about it: we re-read the official pages before each update and show the date.
After you have the visa
You keep the visa by staying within its terms. Holders may not work in an employment relationship.
- Use: the visa must be used within 90 days of issue.
- Family: a spouse, child or parent applies as a linked family member.
- Extension: the eVisa page says the stay is extendable.
Two possible futures
A year from now, you may still be comparing guides while the rules shift. You hold a brochure, a number from one adviser that contradicts another, and no date on any of it.
Or your family has a visa in Indonesia, your route is one that exists, and your file went in clean. You feel relieved, and you chose on facts you could check.
The cost of staying put: routes and rules change, and each change can add cost or close a door.
Your ultimate success:
- Relieved: your family has a base in South East Asia
- Confident: you chose a route that exists today
- Protected: the people you worry about are covered
- In control: you decided on your terms, with the facts

Frequently asked questions
What does the Indonesia Second Home Visa really cost?
The eVisa page lists IDR 21,000,000 including stay and entry permit fees. You also show IDR 2 billion in funds, which stay in your account. A 2022 circular shows a lower fee, and your partner checks the current figure before you file.
How long does it take?
Processing time depends on the authority and on how complete your file is. We walk you through each step and its timing before you commit funds.
Will my application be approved?
No route promises approval, and we make no approval claims. What we control is the file: documented funds, a valid passport and clean documents. We tell you before you pay if your case does not fit.
What is the Indonesia Second Home Visa?
The Second Home Visa is a long-stay visa for foreigners who show proof of funds and do not work in Indonesia. The Directorate General of Immigration introduced it through a circular in 2022.
How much money do I need to show?
IDR 2,000,000,000 or the equivalent in a personal bank account, and proof that you are financially sufficient during your stay.
How long can I stay?
The eVisa page says up to 5 years, extendable. A 2022 circular says 5 or 10 years, and your partner checks the current term.
Can I work in Indonesia?
No. The eVisa page says holders are prohibited from working in an employment relationship.
Can I use property instead of a bank deposit?
An immigration news page of 28 December 2022 says proof of Indonesian property can replace the deposit. The eVisa page lists only the bank account, and your partner checks the current rule.
Can my family come with me?
Yes. A spouse, child or parent can apply as a family member linked to your visa, with proof of the relationship.
Is this a route to permanent residence?
The official source do not say, so we do not claim it.
What if the rules change after I apply?
Official pages differ on the stay and the fee already. The status box shows the date we last read them.
Do you recommend banks or investments?
No. We do not recommend banks, funds or investments and we do not quote returns. We explain what the official pages require and bring in a local partner when your case is qualified.
