Open a Company in Hungary as a Foreigner: The Kft, the Lawyer and the Court Registration

You want a Hungarian limited company (Kft), and you want to know the capital and the steps. A Kft needs at least HUF 3,000,000 of registered capital, and a lawyer drafts the founding documents and files them. The court generally registers the company within 1 to 2 working days, and the registration fee is zero.

We work with qualified local partners in each country, who file your application. We stay your point of contact.

A fast court and a lawyer you must hire first

Hungary registers a Kft in one to two working days, after a lawyer has drafted and filed everything. The capital, the office address and the bank account all need to be ready before the court registers you.

What it looks like from the outside:

  • A lawyer required to draft and submit the founding documents.
  • A minimum capital of HUF 3,000,000.
  • A registered office address, and a company bank account for the capital.

How it feels:

  • You worry you will pick the wrong company type.
  • You fear paying a lawyer for steps you cannot check.
  • You feel unsure whom to trust when guides give different timelines.

You do not have to line up the lawyer, the office and the bank alone

We know how hard it is to start a business in a country where the first step is to hire a local lawyer. You want someone who has read the rule on the official page, tells you honestly when a route does not fit, and stays with you until the file is filed.

What we have done:

  • 35+ years in immigration and investment migration
  • 25,000+ families guided since 1991
  • 3rd Generation in the immigration industry
  • 2026 Canadian Choice Award winner

What we believe:

  • Honesty first: we tell you when a route does not fit, before you move money.
  • Checked rules: every figure on this page is read from an official source and dated.
  • Your plan, not a template: the right route depends on your goals, your family and your funds.

We believe a Hungarian company should start from the official government steps, not from a package price.

What you need

You need a company agreement, the minimum capital, a registered office and a lawyer. The members and the managing director sign.

What the Digital Citizen guide lists:

  1. A company agreement (társasági szerződés), or a founding deed for a single-member Kft.
  2. Registered capital of at least HUF 3,000,000, paid in within 2 years of registration, to the company bank account or cash desk, or contributed in kind if the founding document allows.
  3. A registered office (székhely): owned or used premises, or a registered office service provider.
  4. A lawyer to draft the document and submit it to the court.
  5. A company bank account to pay in the capital.
  6. A tax regime choice, such as KIVA or standard corporate tax.

Set up with our partners in Hungary

We arrange the steps through partners in Hungary, so you deal with one point of contact. We arrange the lawyer, the registered office provider, the company filing, the bookkeeper, the bank introduction, property introductions and relocation steps. We introduce you, the partner delivers, and each partner holds the local licence for what it does. We give no investment, legal or tax advice. Local partners may pay AIA for introductions.

Also from AIA: Canada, Europe and citizenship

Many founders plan a second move. Take the Canada immigration assessment, or read our Canada immigration programs. If you want a European base, see residence by investment in Europe, and for a passport, see citizenship by investment.

Your path in three steps

Three steps from your first answers to your company.

  1. Step 1: Tell us your plan. Use Find my program, or write to us with your business, your shareholders and where you live.
  2. Step 2: We do the heavy lifting. We bring in the Hungarian lawyer, the registered office provider, the bookkeeper and the bank introduction through our partners in Hungary.
  3. Step 3: Your company is registered. The court generally registers within 1 to 2 working days, and you pay in the capital within 2 years.

The guide says the court generally registers a Kft within 1 to 2 working days after the lawyer files.

What could change: the capital, the costs and the registration route. What we do about it: we re-read the official pages before each update and show the date.

After you have the company

You keep the company in order with the capital payment and your bookkeeping. The guide lists the points.

  • Capital: pay in the registered capital within 2 years.
  • Office: keep a registered office.
  • Tax regime: choose KIVA or standard corporate tax with your bookkeeper.

Two possible futures

A year from now, you may still be comparing packages while the rules shift. You hold a quote, a number from one adviser that contradicts another, and no date on any of it.

Or your company is registered in Hungary, your tax number is in place, and you know every deadline. You feel in control, and you chose on facts you could check.

The cost of staying put: routes and rules change, and each change can add cost or close a door.

Your ultimate success:

  • Registered: your company exists on the registry's terms
  • On time: you met each filing deadline
  • Prepared: you know the bank step and its limits
  • In control: you decided on your terms, with the facts
