“Which program should I apply for?” is the wrong first question

Most people pick a program first, then try to make themselves fit it. That is backwards, and it costs money.

Canada runs dozens of routes at once. Federal ones, provincial ones, permanent ones, temporary ones. Some are open. Some are paused. Some are closed and still being advertised by people who have not checked.

The better first question is simpler: given my situation, which routes are even available to me right now? That is the question this assessment answers.

It will not tell you that you are approved. Nobody can. It tells you where you stand today against the published rules, and what you would need to settle before anything is worth filing.

What it covers

Six pathways, one set of questions

You pick the situation that sounds like yours. The questions change to match it, so you are never asked about a spouse’s job offer when you came here about a study permit.

S

Skilled workers

Express Entry, the category based draws, and the provincial streams for workers. Your CRS score is worked out and measured against what recent rounds actually took.

W

Work permits

Employer backed permits, open permits, post graduation permits, and the routes that need no job offer at all.

T

Students

Study permits, the money you have to show, the provincial attestation letter, and what studying here leads to afterwards.

F

Family sponsorship

Spouses and partners, inland and outland, parents and grandparents, and the income figure that applies to your family size.

B

Business and investors

The provincial entrepreneur streams and Quebec’s own routes, checked against your net worth, your experience and the province you have in mind.

V

Visitors

Visitor visas, the eTA, super visas, transit, and extending or restoring status when you are already in Canada.

132
Program records checked

91

Every answer is checked against 132 current program records. Streams that are paused or shut are left out of your result rather than padded into it, unless you asked about one by name.

Your report

What the assessment tells you

  • The routes that may fit. Named, with the reason each one applies to you.
  • Where you stand on the ones that score you. Your CRS score, how it breaks down, and the line recent draws have actually been taking.
  • What is missing. The document, test or figure that is holding a route open rather than deciding it, and what settles it.
  • What to do next. The order to do things in, and what is worth preparing before you spend anything.

Your result is a preliminary assessment based on the answers you give. It is not a determination of eligibility and not a guarantee of approval. Only Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada decides who is admitted.

Two things this will not do

It will not score you on a test you have not taken. Nobody can be ranked without a language test result, so if you have not sat one yet, you get told what the test is worth on your own answers instead of a number that means nothing.

It will not confuse immigration with licensing. Qualifying to immigrate and qualifying to practise your profession in Canada are two separate systems with separate rules. Doctors, nurses, engineers, teachers and lawyers all have to deal with both.

The assessment

Find out where you stand

It takes a few minutes. Your answers are checked as you go, and your report is shown on screen and emailed to you so you still have it later.

We ask for your email so we can send you the report. Updates about Canadian immigration are a separate, optional tick, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

After the report

Why people bring the result to a consultant

Immigration information is easy to find. Working out what applies to your situation is the hard part, and it is the part that decides the outcome.

A strategy consultation is where we look at which route to put first and why, what your strongest and weakest points really are, which documents need attention before anything is filed, and what order to do it all in.

The aim is not to make the decision for you. It is to help you make a better informed one.

Strategy before submission

The assessment is built the same way the advice is: it says what the rules are, says plainly what it cannot settle, and refuses to guess.

How it works

Three steps

  1. Book a Strategy Consultation. We learn about your background, your goals and your circumstances.
  2. Understand your options. We go through the routes that apply to you, what each one requires, and the things worth considering before you choose.
  3. Build your strategy. If you decide to go ahead, we explain the next steps and how we can help.

Questions

Before you start

Is the assessment really free?

Yes. The assessment and the report cost nothing and you are under no obligation to book anything afterwards.

Why do you need my email before showing the result?

Because the report is emailed to you as well as shown on screen, so you still have the numbers when you need them later. Marketing updates are a separate optional tick, not a condition of getting your report, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

How is this different from the eligibility checkers I have already tried?

Most checkers ask a handful of questions about one program and give you a yes or a no. This one covers six pathways, checks your answers against 132 current program records, and tells you what is missing rather than just whether you passed.

Can you guarantee that I will get permanent residence?

No, and neither can anyone else. Those decisions belong to the Canadian government. What a consultation can do is help you understand your options and prepare properly.

What happens during the strategy consultation?

We learn about your background and goals, go through the routes that apply to you and what each one requires, and explain the next steps if you want to continue. You decide what to do after that.

Why not just apply myself?

You can. The question is whether you know which requirements apply to your own profile. A consultation can show you strengths, gaps and documents that need a closer look, even if you go on to apply on your own.

I was refused before. Is there any point?

A past refusal changes the strategy rather than ending it. Reading the refusal reasons properly is part of what a consultation is for. Nobody can promise to undo one.

My score is not high enough. Should I bother?

A score is one route of several, and the federal pool is not the only door. Provincial streams, work permits and study routes all work differently. The assessment names the ones that apply to you rather than only the one that scores you.

I am a doctor, a nurse or an engineer. Does this cover my licensing?

No. Immigrating to Canada and getting licensed to practise here are two separate processes with separate rules, and licensing varies by province and profession. The assessment looks at immigration only.

How long will my application take?

Processing times change, and they differ by route and by country. Rather than quote a number that may be out of date by the time you read it, we go through the current official timelines against your own profile in the consultation. You can also read them yourself at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

What do you do with my information?

Your answers and your email are used to prepare your report, send it to you, and contact you about your enquiry. Updates about Canadian immigration are a separate optional tick, and ticking it is not a condition of getting your report. You can unsubscribe at any time, and there is an unsubscribe link at the foot of every email we send. Full details are in our privacy policy.

Next step

You do not have to work this out alone

Start with the assessment if you want to see your options first. Book a consultation if you already know you want someone to go through your situation properly.
