What is the PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)?
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) is Prince Edward Island’s provincial nomination program. Its Labour Impact category has three employer-driven streams, Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate, and it also runs PEI Express Entry.
Every candidate starts with an Expression of Interest, and PEI invites the candidates it needs in regular draws. PEI Express Entry nominees get 600 extra CRS points in Express Entry.
What happens if you wait to apply?
Your EOI stays active for only six months, and PEI is prioritizing health care, trades, childcare and other sectors with shortages. Workers in sales and service may not be invited, so it pays to know where your job stands. See recent invitations on our PNP draw tracker.
Why workers choose the PEI PNP
- TEER 4 and 5 included: the Critical Worker stream is for intermediate-skilled jobs
- Low language minimum: CLB 4 for the Critical Worker stream
- Graduate stream: for graduates of publicly funded PEI institutions
- Wide age range: 18 to 59 for Skilled and Critical Workers
- 600 CRS points: through PEI Express Entry
- Family included: bring your spouse and children
Is the PEI PNP right for you?
An honest answer before you spend money on tests and fees.
A good fit if you have
- A full-time, non-seasonal job offer (permanent or at least two years) from a PEI employer
- A job in health care, trades, childcare or another sector with shortages
- Age 18 to 59
- A valid work permit and legal status
- At least two years of full-time work in the last five years (Skilled and Critical Worker)
Consider another route if
- You work in sales or service, which PEI may not invite right now
- Your job offer is seasonal
- You are in Canada on a study permit but not studying
Express Entry, another province’s stream or a work permit first may fit better. Compare all provinces.
PEI PNP eligibility requirements
You must meet your stream’s rules and prove every claim with documents. Here is what the PEI Office of Immigration and IRCC check.
Language proficiency
Critical Worker needs CLB 4 from an approved test taken in the last two years. Skilled Worker and TEER 0 to 3 graduates can prove language with a test or their employer’s job offer form.
Education
Skilled Worker needs a post-secondary degree or diploma from a program of at least two years. Critical Worker needs a high school diploma, and graduates need a credential from a publicly funded PEI institution.
Work experience
Skilled Worker: two years of full-time work in the last five years. Critical Worker: six months with your PEI employer, plus two years of work or relevant education in the last five.
Job offer
A full-time, non-seasonal job offer, permanent or at least two years, from an eligible PEI employer. You must stay with that employer until you become a permanent resident.
Admissibility
A medical exam with an IRCC panel physician for you and your dependants, and police certificates from every country you have lived in for 6+ months since age 18.

PEI PNP FAQs
What is the PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)?
The PEI PNP is Prince Edward Island’s provincial nomination program. Its Labour Impact category has the Skilled Worker, Critical Worker and International Graduate streams, and it also runs PEI Express Entry.
Do I need a job offer for the PEI PNP?
Yes, for the Labour Impact streams: a full-time, non-seasonal job offer from an eligible PEI employer, permanent or for at least two years. PEI Express Entry gives priority to candidates who live and work in PEI with an eligible employer.
Which sectors is PEI inviting?
PEI is prioritizing health care, trades, childcare and other sectors facing labour shortages. People working in sales and service may not receive an invitation at this time.
How much does the PEI PNP cost?
Creating an Expression of Interest profile is free. If you are selected to apply, you pay a non-refundable $300 application fee.
What language score do I need for the PEI PNP?
The Critical Worker stream needs CLB 4 from an approved test taken in the last two years. For Skilled Worker and TEER 0 to 3 graduates, language can be shown with a test or through your employer’s job offer form.
Is there an age limit for the PEI PNP?
Yes. The Skilled Worker and Critical Worker streams are for applicants aged 18 to 59.
Can international graduates apply to the PEI PNP?
Yes. The International Graduate stream is for graduates of publicly funded PEI institutions with a PEI job offer and a valid PGWP. Graduates from outside PEI applying through PEI Express Entry need 9 months with their PEI employer and 4 months left on their permit.
How long does my PEI EOI stay active?
Your Expression of Interest profile stays active for six months. You can update it if your situation changes before you are invited.
Can PEI employers hire workers from outside Canada?
In some cases. Employers can use the Intermediate Experience Stream for recruitment outside Canada, but only with the Office of Immigration’s approval before they make a job offer.
Does meeting the minimum requirements guarantee an invitation?
No. Meeting the minimum only lets you submit an EOI. PEI invites candidates based on labour market needs and can limit or exclude sectors from its draws.
