What is the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP)?

The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) is New Brunswick’s provincial nomination program for workers, graduates, French speakers and entrepreneurs. Its worker streams are the Skilled Worker stream, the Express Entry stream and the Strategic Initiative for French-speaking candidates.

Every candidate starts with a free Expression of Interest, and New Brunswick invites the candidates it needs. Express Entry nominees get 600 extra CRS points in Express Entry.

What happens if you wait to apply?

New Brunswick has limited nomination spaces, and it narrowed its invitations twice in 2026. Since May 4, 2026, the NB Experience pathway only invites healthcare, education and construction workers, so the rules can change before you apply. See recent invitations on our PNP draw tracker.

Why workers choose the New Brunswick PNP

  • Low language minimum: the Skilled Worker stream needs CLB 4
  • Low fees: a free EOI and a $250 application fee
  • Graduate pathway: for graduates of New Brunswick institutions working in the province
  • French speakers: the Strategic Initiative needs NCLC 5 and includes remote workers
  • 600 CRS points: through the NB Express Entry stream
  • Family included: bring your spouse and children

Is the New Brunswick PNP right for you?

An honest answer before you spend money on tests and fees.

A good fit if you have

  • A full-time, non-seasonal job with an employer operating in New Brunswick for 24+ months
  • Six months of full-time work and six months living in New Brunswick (NB Experience)
  • A job in healthcare, education or construction, if you use NB Experience
  • CLB 4 (Skilled Worker), CLB 7 (Express Entry) or NCLC 5 in French (Strategic Initiative)
  • Age 19 or older (19 to 55 for Express Entry)

Consider another route if

  • You work in accommodation and food services
  • Your occupation is one of New Brunswick’s restricted NOC codes
  • Your job is seasonal, or your employer has operated in New Brunswick for under 24 months

Express Entry, another province’s stream or a work permit first may fit better. Compare all provinces.

New Brunswick PNP eligibility requirements

You must meet your stream’s rules and prove every claim with documents. Here is what the NBPNP and IRCC check.

Language proficiency

The Skilled Worker stream needs CLB 4 in all four skills, the Express Entry stream needs CLB 7, and the Strategic Initiative needs NCLC 5 in French.

Education

At least a high school diploma, or a Canadian high school diploma or foreign equivalent for Express Entry and the Strategic Initiative.

Work experience

NB Experience: six months full-time with the same employer. Priority Occupations: one year of paid related work. Express Entry: one year of TEER 0 to 3 work in the last 10 years.

Job offer

A full-time, non-seasonal job with an employer active in New Brunswick for at least 24 months. The NB Interest pathway and some Strategic Initiative candidates need no offer.

Admissibility

A medical exam with an IRCC panel physician for you and your dependants, and police certificates from every country you have lived in for 6+ months since age 18.

New Brunswick PNP FAQs

The NBPNP is New Brunswick’s provincial nomination program. Its worker streams are the Skilled Worker stream, the Express Entry stream and the Strategic Initiative for French speakers, and it also runs a Business Immigration stream.

For the Skilled Worker stream, yes: a full-time, non-seasonal job with an employer operating in New Brunswick for 24 months. The Express Entry stream accepts 12 months of work in New Brunswick or a letter of interest from the province, and some Strategic Initiative pathways need no offer.

Since May 4, 2026, the NB Experience pathway only invites candidates working in healthcare, education and construction trades, because nomination spaces are limited.

Since February 3, 2026, New Brunswick does not consider EOIs or issue invitations for workers in accommodation and food services. It also restricts several NOC codes, such as cashiers, fish and seafood plant workers, retail supervisors and butchers.

Submitting an Expression of Interest is free. If invited, you pay a non-refundable $250 application fee.

The Skilled Worker stream needs CLB 4 in all four skills and the Express Entry stream needs CLB 7. The Strategic Initiative needs NCLC 5 in all four French skills.

It is a stream for French-speaking candidates with NCLC 5 and at least 65 of 100 points. Its pathways cover Francophone workers, graduates of Université de Moncton or CCNB, and remote workers who have lived in New Brunswick for 12 months.

Yes. The NB Graduates pathway is for graduates of an eligible program at a New Brunswick designated institution who have a full-time job and have lived in the province for six months. French-speaking graduates can also use the Strategic Initiative.

It is a five-year federal-provincial pilot running from 2022 to 2027 with six selected employers. It is employer-driven, so candidates cannot apply to it on their own.

No. Meeting the minimum only lets you submit an EOI. New Brunswick invites candidates based on its priorities and limited nomination spaces.
