PR government fees
Canada PR Fees for Express Entry and Skilled Workers: Full Cost Breakdown
The government fee for an Express Entry principal applicant is $1,590 CAD: a $990 processing fee plus the $600 right of permanent residence fee. A spouse or partner pays the same, each dependent child pays $270, and biometrics cost $85 per person or $170 for a family (IRCC fee list, checked October 2026). These fees also apply to the PNP, the Atlantic Immigration Program and the rural and Francophone pilots.
PR government fees are the payments you make to IRCC when you apply for permanent residence. They have two parts: a processing fee and the right of permanent residence fee, known as the RPRF. You pay biometrics separately.
These are not your only costs. Language tests, an ECA, a medical exam and police certificates add to the total, and each provider sets its own price.
Who pays which fee?
You pay for yourself. Your spouse or partner pays the same amount, and each dependent child pays $270. You can pay the RPRF with your application or when IRCC approves it.
Why it matters
Total: fees grow with your family size
Payment: you pay inside your secure IRCC account by debit or credit card
Changes: IRCC updates fees, so check the live list
Extra costs: tests, an ECA, a medical exam and police certificates are separate
