What does the AAIP points calculator do?
The AAIP points calculator adds up your points on Alberta’s Worker EOI grid. It covers education, language, work experience, age, family in Alberta and your Alberta job offer.
The same grid ranks candidates for the Alberta Opportunity, Alberta Express Entry, Rural Renewal and Tourism and Hospitality streams. Alberta also collects other details, such as your NOC and work permit status, but gives no points for them.
Do I need a minimum score?
No. You do not need a minimum score to submit a Worker EOI. You do need at least CLB 4 for English or NCLC 4 for French in all four language abilities.
What your score tells you
- Ranking: Alberta invites the highest scores in each draw
- Gaps: the breakdown shows which factors cost you points
- WEOI: it costs $135 and stays valid for one year
- Express Entry: the Alberta Express Entry Stream adds 600 CRS points

Five mistakes that skew your AAIP score
A wrong input gives a wrong score. Watch for these.
Using your best language ability
Alberta scores the lowest of your four abilities, not your best one.
Counting in-laws
Family points need a parent, child or sibling. In-laws earn no points.
Claiming a licence you do not hold
Regulated occupation points need a recognized Alberta certification or licence.
Forgetting the one-year limit
A WEOI is valid for one year, and editing it does not extend that time.
Expecting a pass mark
Alberta has no minimum score. The draws set the cut-off.

AAIP points calculator FAQs
What is the AAIP Worker EOI points grid?
It is the 100-point grid Alberta uses to rank Worker Expressions of Interest. Human capital factors earn up to 69 points and economic factors earn up to 31.
Is there a minimum score to submit a Worker EOI?
No. You need CLB 4 or NCLC 4 in all four language abilities, but no minimum score. Alberta invites the highest-scoring profiles in its draws.
How much does a Worker EOI cost?
A Worker EOI costs $135 CAD since 7 April 2026. Your WEOI is valid for one year after you submit it, and editing it does not extend that period.
How are language points calculated?
Points use the lowest score of your four abilities. English CLB 6 or higher earns 10, CLB 5 earns 8 and CLB 4 earns 5. French NCLC 6 or higher earns 8. Alberta awards the higher of the two, plus 3 bilingual points if you reach level 4 in both.
How do education points work?
Your highest level earns up to 12 points: doctorate 12, master’s 10, bachelor’s or trades 7 and diploma 4. Completing it in Alberta adds 10 points, and in another province adds 6.
How do work experience points work?
Total experience earns 11 points for 12 months or more, 7 for 6 to 11 months and 3 for less than 6 months. Six months in Alberta adds 10 points, and six months elsewhere in Canada adds 6.
Which family members earn points?
A parent, child or sibling over 18 who is a citizen or permanent resident living in Alberta earns 8 points. In-laws earn no points.
How do Alberta job offer points work?
A permanent full-time job offer earns 10 points. A Rural Renewal, tourism and hospitality or law enforcement offer adds 6, a job outside Calgary and Edmonton adds 5, and a regulated occupation with Alberta certification adds 10.
Does the Alberta Express Entry Stream add CRS points?
Yes. A nomination through the Alberta Express Entry Stream adds 600 CRS points to your Express Entry profile.
Is this AAIP calculator official?
No. It is an estimate based on Alberta’s official grid. Alberta confirms your points from your documents.
