Who can use CUKTCA?
Investor
IRCC describes an investor as a manager or specialist who is responsible for setting up an enterprise, is not paid by a Canadian source and does not engage in direct transactions with the general public.
Specialized knowledge worker
You need knowledge at an advanced level of expertise and proprietary knowledge of your company product, service, research, equipment, techniques or management.
UK youth
Eligible young UK citizens can use a working holiday or young professionals placement. See International Experience Canada.
Skilled UK workers
If no agreement fits, an LMIA work permit or Express Entry may be the better route.
A note on CPTPP and the UK
The UK acceded to CPTPP, and Canada announced in July 2026 that it ratified the UK accession protocol. IRCC business people guidance currently lists the UK under CUKTCA. Check IRCC for any change before your employer files.
