TIn 2026, the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Express Entry cut-off score ranged between 507 and 523, averaging 514.4 across 17 draws held between January 7 and September 29, 2026. The cut-off is the lowest CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score that got an invitation. Those draws sent 55,250 invitations in total, based on IRCC’s Express Entry rounds page, checked October 11, 2026.
What changed is the size of the draws. January to June had 10 CEC draws and 41,250 invitations. July to September had 7 draws and only 14,000. Over the same time, the average cut-off rose from 511.5 to 518.6.

Why does the CEC cut-off 2026 range barely move?
The score holds steady because of who is in the pool. On September 27, 2026, IRCC counted 21,798 candidates above 500 points across all programs. That is far more than the 8,000 invitations in the biggest CEC draw this year, so each draw clears only the top of a deep pile.
Draw sizes also shrank. A smaller draw runs out of invitations sooner, so it stops at a higher score. The 1,000-invitation draw on August 18 shows this most clearly, since it closed at 523.
What does the CEC cut-off 2026 mean if you score 490 to 505?
At 490 to 505, a CEC draw is unlikely to reach you if the 2026 pattern holds. No CEC round this year went below 507. On September 27, 2026, IRCC reported 12,745 candidates in the 491 to 500 score band and 21,798 candidates scoring 501 or higher (including provincial nominees). Because smaller draws run out of invitations sooner, they clear only the very top of that deep pool.
You need more points or a second route.
That is a reason to plan, not to give up. Start with our CRS calculator and check where you can still gain points.
- Language Maximization: Retest in IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General, or PTE Core to reach CLB 9 or 10 across all bands, or take the TEF/TCF to capture additional French-language bonus points.
- Canadian Work Experience: Complete an additional year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 experience in Canada to unlock the next CRS experience threshold.
- Provincial Nomination: Secure an enhanced nomination through an Express Entry-aligned PNP stream, adding an automatic 600 CRS points.
- Category-Based Selection: Target category-based draws if your primary work history aligns with IRCC priority sectors (Healthcare, STEM, Trades, Transport, Agriculture) or French proficiency.
What if you already score above 507?
If you score above 507, you are inside the range CEC draws reached this year, but you are not safe. All seven CEC draws since July closed at 516 or higher. A score of 510 would have been invited in late January, February and March. It would have missed every draw since April, so small point gains still matter.
Our guide to CRS scores from 501 to 600 covers what to do while you wait in that range.
Will the CEC cut-off drop later in 2026?
No one can promise that, because IRCC does not publish a draw calendar or target scores ahead of time. What the 2026 data shows is a narrow band and smaller recent draws. Planning around a drop below 507 means betting against nine months of CEC cut-off 2026 results.

Yes, a Canadian Experience Class round invites only candidates in the pool who are eligible for that program. Candidates who qualify only for the Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades programs are not invited in these rounds, whatever their score. They rely on other draw types.
