The Newfoundland PNP draw on October 16, 2026 sent 126 invitations to apply. The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) got 125 and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) got 1, according to the province’s invitations page updated October 19, 2026. It is the second round in a row with just 1 AIP invitation.
What happened in the Newfoundland PNP draw on October 16?
The province issued 126 invitations to apply in one round on October 16, 2026. The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) split them across two programs. It does not publish a cut-off score and picks profiles using its expression of interest (EOI) priority rules instead.
- NLPNP: 125 invitations
- AIP: 1 invitation
The round is a little smaller than the October 9 round, which sent 131. You can read the full breakdown of that round in our post on the Newfoundland and Labrador PNP draw of October 9.
Is the Atlantic Immigration Program still inviting people in Newfoundland?
Barely, the AIP is getting almost no invitations in Newfoundland right now. The last six rounds, from September 4 to October 16, 2026, sent 493 invitations, and only 3 went to the AIP. That is less than 1 in 100, while earlier in the year the AIP often got 30 or more invitations in a single round.
Here is how the AIP share looks in the province’s own table:
- March 6, 2026: 445 invitations, 83 to the AIP
- July 10, 2026: 57 invitations, 40 to the AIP
- August 26, 2026: 140 invitations, 46 to the AIP
- September 4 to October 16, 2026: 493 invitations, 3 to the AIP
The province has not said why. We will not guess. If your plan depends on an AIP invitation in Newfoundland and Labrador, have a backup plan for the rest of 2026.
How many invitations has Newfoundland and Labrador sent in 2026?
Newfoundland and Labrador has sent 2,952 invitations in 18 rounds in 2026. Of those, 2,555 went to the NLPNP and 397 to the AIP. We added up every 2026 row in the official table ourselves, from March 6 to October 16.
Here is the math: the October 9 total was 2,826 invitations in 17 rounds. Add the 126 from October 16 and you get 2,952. The NLPNP rose from 2,430 to 2,555, and the AIP from 396 to 397.
By October 16, 2025, the province had sent 2,946 invitations in 11 rounds. So 2026 has now caught up with last year, but it took 18 smaller rounds to get there. For other provinces, see our PNP draw results for 2026, or compare the PEI PNP draws in 2026.
What should you do after the Newfoundland PNP draw on October 16?
Keep your profile current and your papers ready, whether or not you were invited. The province sends invitations in batches with no fixed calendar, and the last two rounds came one week apart, on October 9 and October 16. If an invitation comes, you will want your file mostly built already.
- Language test: make sure your results will still be valid when you apply.
- Job offer: keep your employer’s details and offer letter up to date.
- Credentials: get any needed assessment done now, not after you are invited.
If you are leaning on the AIP, compare it with an NLPNP route now. Our page on the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program explains each stream.
